Sue Wallace, Special Olympics Oregon Local Program Coordinator for Multnomah County has been chosen as a 2010 Oregon Governor’s Volunteer Regional Winner in the Outstanding Adult Volunteer (19-54) category. Sue has been a volunteer in this role for the past 7 years.
The Oregon Governor’s Volunteer Awards recognize individuals and organizations for their dedication, commitment and determination in promoting and supporting volunteerism throughout Oregon with the purpose of inspiring individuals to make a positive difference in strengthening of their Oregon communities.
Sue’s nomination for the award came from Special Olympics Oregon Field Director, Kelly Coates who noted in her nomination that when she first met Sue in the Fall of 2006, she was touched and impressed by Sue’s compassion, direction and attentiveness to the Multnomah County Local Program needs. “Sue has an amazing ability to lead the program without micro-managing or being overbearing to the hundreds of volunteers who serve either as coaches or as members of the local program management team”, said Coates.
Sue will be recognized among other Regional and Statewide winners at the Governor’s Volunteer Awards Luncheon at the Salem Conference Center in October. For more information and a list of this year’s winners please visit www.oregonvolunteers.org/events/gva
